Who was Sophie Scholl?

On the 22nd of February 1942, Sophie Scholl (21), her brother Hans (24) and their mutual friend Christian Probst (24) were convicted of high treason and executed in Munich on the same day. They were members of the White Rose, a loosely organized, short-lived underground organization that had been waging a leaflet campaign against Hitler’s policies and calling for passive resistance against the totalitarian Nazi regime. The White Rose, the personal courage and the moral integrity of its members have become symbols of the resistance against national socialism that jumped up among students from within Germany.
