LESS AND MORE    the design ethos by Dieter Rams
August 27, 2011 – February 20, 2012
Dieter Rams (born May 20, 1932 in Wiesbaden, Hessen) is a German industrial designer closely associated with the consumer products company Braun and the Functionalist school of industrial design.
Widely regarded as one of the most influential industrial designers of our time, Dieter Rams produced iconic works and innovative ideas (in particular his advocacy for "less but better" design) that have proved seminal for our contemporary design culture. For more than 40 years, Rams was the lead designer for the German household appliance company Braun. He also led the design team for the British furniture company Vitsoe. This exhibition includes more than 200 sketches and objects by Rams, as well as contemporary designs influenced by his Ten Principles of Good Design, such as Apple computers.
